Greetings! I'm Brynn Shaver, a dedicated Licensed Professional Counselor Associate originally hailing from Asheville, North Carolina, now nestled in the beautiful landscapes of Bend, Oregon. My professional journey has been deeply influenced by my own experiences with eating disorders, religious trauma, relationship trauma, and a journey of identity exploration. These experiences have shaped my understanding of the complexities of the human experience and have motivated me to pursue a career in therapy. Through my personal struggles and identity exploration, I've gained invaluable insights into the challenges individuals face in navigating life's transitions. This journey has equipped me to support clients as they grapple with similar issues, whether it's navigating substance use challenges, exploring LGBTQIA+ identities, serving military veterans, or aiding trauma survivors. My approach revolves around empowering clients to bolster their personal "toolbox," equipping them with the skills and insights needed to pursue their goals resiliently. I'm committed to offering compassionate guidance and steadfast support to navigate life's twists and turns alongside my clients.
My counseling approach is highly client-driven and eclectic, drawing from various therapeutic modalities including Narrative Therapy, Parts Work, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). In addition to these methodologies, I integrate trauma-informed care principles and skill-building techniques, empowering clients to cultivate healthier responses to life's challenges. My objective is to create a safe, nurturing environment where clients feel empowered to collaborate and communicate openly, facilitating the achievement of their goals.
I specialize in working with adults from minority populations, including LGBTQIA+, African American, Hispanic, and other under served communities, who are seeking to enhance their resilience during challenging life phases. Through evidence-based practices and a holistic perspective, I strive to engage with individuals who are eager to embark on a journey of self-improvement amidst life's adversities. My goal is to create a container for you to feel safe and lean into vulnerability in a way that you not have gotten before to start healing.
